THE SELF IS A HOME
Beginning in childhood, our psychological development and overall mental state are impacted not only by our inherent need to socialize with other human beings but also by the physical environments we inhabit. "Sense of Place" is a concept used to describe the emotional bonds and associations to particular environments and physical locations. Studies show that displaced individuals struggle with mental health, one factor being refugees needing to flee their homes. "The Self is a Home" is a series exploring how physical space and dwelling structures impact our emotional and psychological state by highlighting how dwellings become a representation of those who live there. The home is the designated space we as human beings, seek out to find safety, security, and comfort to function within Society.
